Katrina and the Airwaves

I was just watching the breathless cable news coverage of Hurricane Katrina a few minutes ago when the following phone exchange was broadcast live from the French Quarter:

Shepard Smith: I'm from Fox News Channel. What are you doing?

New Orleans Man: We're walking our dogs.

Shepard Smith: Why are you still here? I'm just curious.

New Orleans Man: It's none of your fucking business.

Now that's what I call keeping your wits in an emergency. Good luck and godspeed, New Orleans.

Brilliant! Man, I want that bit on tape. That's got Daily Show written all over it...

We watched TV as late as we could stay awake last night, pointlessly. I went to sleep thinking about all those huge old oak trees... It's a sad day.

Chepo said he saw the CNN weatherman almost get into fisticuffs with the female news reader when she kept interrupting him. Apparently he screamed "WILL YOU LET ME FINISH?!" at her. This hurricane is really bringing us some top quality cable news!
