Ashamed, But Not Surprised

Well, at least only three out of four Texans voted to constitutionally strip their fellow citizens of equal protection under the law.

It sucks to get beat that bad, but we were going up against the Republican Party, a not-insubstantial chunk of the Democratic Party, the Vatican and the Southern Baptist Convention, to name but a few. That's like me and some of my drinking buddies playing the '86 Chicago Bears and only losing 21-7. There's a lot of dogged ignorance in Texas. Overcoming well-entrenched ninnyisms - especially when they're associated with the anus - is bound to be a decades-long process.

I wonder if these so-called people of faith realize just how many spiritually hungry souls they've alienated with this gay marriage bullshit? If there really is a Judgment Day, I hope I'm standing in line behind some smug, holy rolling gay-baiters because the mere spillage of a few trillion gametes is going to look pretty good by comparison.

Texas deserves a big 'ol karmic horse kick in its double-wide kiester for this.

At least Travis county voters opposed Prop. 2 60% to 40% - the only Texas county to do so. We still have our decency at least. You know, decency and tolerance? Part of that left-wing pinko liberal clap-trap that us elitists naively follow while we smoke dope, support the terrorists and live off of the sweat of real god-fearin' hard-workin' Americans? At least Kansas voted to include the study of angels in biology class so we have a little company back here in the 19th century.

It's just sickening. I try to be open minded about stuff, but I just dont GET why people feel like they have to enact a law discriminating against others. What on earth is so scary about two like-minded individuals declaring their love for each other? Why is that considered wrong? Isn't love love no matter what? It boggles the mind. I can't fathom it.

I performed the commitment ceremony for my best friend and her girlfriend, and I don't care WHO denies it, they are married. They're more married than even I am!

As after the last presidential election, I can see that fear is stronger than hope - at least for the majority in ours and 18 other states. Actually, while I am angry that my brothers and other gay friends and colleagues will be denied basic rights, I also feel sorry for these people out there who think they are 'good' while actively standing on the same side as the Klan.

Did you see the front page of the Statesman? Look at those smug motherfuckers celebrating their victory over nothing. It does not even affect them in any way and yet they're all up at church having a victory party. It's sickening.

Reminds me of how one of my NYC friends said recently, "The problem with Austin is if you drive any direction out of the city, you are in Texas".

Who's next, the Chinese, Muslims, and any other "unorthodox" faith? Seeing as how they'll be burning in hell since they don't believe in Jesus...
