Chilean Dictator Pinochet Dies

Good riddance to former Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet, who finally died today at the age of 91.

Pinochet led a military coup against democratically-elected Marxist president Salvador Allende in 1973. More than 3,000 people were murdered for political reasons under Pinochet's 17-year reign. His old age and declining health kept him from ever having to fully account for his misdeeds.

I loved how the channel 36 Sunday newdrone described Pinochet as a "contoversial leader who saved Chile from communism" instead of as an "illegitimate fascist butcher." It seems like I remember that Pinochet's coup had the tacit approval and assistance from some large North American country like Mexico, or maybe Canada... Ahh, who cares! That's like ancient history, dude!
